While I question the absolute assumption that felines, Republicans and other animals are deficient in the area of grammar and sentence structure, proof to the contrary is overwhelming, leading me to the ultimate conclusion that indeed, discourse should begin on the level of the instigator of the discussion, viz, the author of the article of what is so quaintly called a ‘blog’.

    Besides, Kittehs are Cute.

    See?

Clever, succinct, limited spelling potential, why you could go into LOLcats son!

Well, now that you have demonstrated you do have a real voice, please explain what you had in mind in your comment about the Book of Abraham. I am going to take a leap of faith here and assume you have an opinion about Joseph Smith and the papyri too.

There are no guarantees that I will use spell check in responding.

I went to LOLCats and am considering taking back some of the nasty things I have been thinking about you.

    Begn Hooman

Well, explaining the joke takes all the fun out of it, but I’ll do it this once. None of these need to be actually related to each other to make it funny.
    —–
Cat in a hat, in this case a motorcycle helmet. –> Joseph Smith –> it’s funny because it’s a cat, and JS is translating something.
    ——
    Wen looking for ur —-

    Only foun —

That’s a rare, but occasionally used LOLcat trope, it’s kind of like haiku in it’s own, misspelled cat focused way. Hey, it’s better than Emo poetry.

It’s funny because it’s misspelled… and damn it it’s just funny

    ———
Third, I thought you and the article author had mixed up the BOA papyri with the Egyptian Alphabet and Grammar. You didn’t, so this jokes on me. Evidently y’all are talking about some stray writing on one of the papyri. This is even funnier because I misread.
    ———-
Michael Rhodes is old guard FARMS, back from the wild and wolly days of ‘Metcalfe is a Butthead’ (google that if you don’t get the reference, you may have to pick up the story off of some old guard anti-mormon site), so I enjoy poking fun at anyone who uses the overwrought conclusions of the old FARMS review of Books.

I’m annoyed with his insinuation that Phelps and Parrish left over some over anxious translations, when they really left over the batshit mess that polygamy turned into in Nauvoo.
    ——–
Finally, if I had a lot of time to put thought into these, I’d be a regular blogger, not a LOLCatz writer and I wouldn’t have time to work. So part of the fun is that their potshots in the dark, funny on multiple levels to me, and hopefully amusing to a few other people.

I appreciate that. You apparantly know more about Phelps et al than I do. I will have to put some Phelps reading on my “to do” the list. You sound like someone who knows more about these subjects than most. Your partcipation is hereby solicited.

I just Googled Brent Metcalf and read some of the June 1994 SLC Messenger’s piece on him. I suppose some folks get troubled by such challenges as Metcalf presented. The lengthy FARMS response mentioned doesn’t disturb me. There is no correlation in the premise of the discussion and length of the studied response to it.

What troubles me a bit are the numerous personal pronouns the writer uses in what is supposed to be a fact piece. Is someone personalizing something here? But being unfamiliar with the rag- all newspapers are rags- maybe this isn’t a fact piece but a one sided slug fest. I will have to put this on my “to do” list too. Given the length of the list, I should get to it eventually.
